Happy September!
I'm just going to start out by saying that this week has probably been one of my favorite weeks so far since moving to San Diego. We did a lot of exploring this week, searching for new parts of town and seeking out the different activities that the city life has to offer. We explored a little bit of North Park, which had some fun art along boutique walls, lots of appealing restaurants (which if you know us, we definitely have mentally bookmarked to come back and try), we also walked around the Thursday market, which we completely ran into on accident!
This week we also went to our first San Diego Padres game at Petco Park. If you've been following along my adventures for a while now, you may have picked up on the fact that Nathaniel got me completely hooked on baseball, his family are big Oakland fans (GO A's)! Growing up in small town Montana, I've always been involved in sports, I played tennis all four years of high school, I partook in swimming, and I was a cheerleader for our high school Bulldog football team. Playing, watching, I've always been involved in some sort of way; so I really held on to this new sport. The community around the game is very welcoming, even if you sometimes have no idea what's going on, there's always people cheering alongside of you! I love not only the aspects of the game but also the culture around it. I'm really excited to be in a city that is so heavily populated with baseball fanatics, it feels a bit like home to me.
what I've been loving
This weeks favorite might be considered cheating a bit because it's neither a material item or something you can own. This week it's rather a group, a whole, special moments captured. We've had lots of fun adventures this week including the baseball game, touring North Park, going on our first bike ride in our new neighborhood, visiting the Salk Institute, and playing in the ocean in the middle of the night. I'm overwhelmingly grateful for these experiences & moments. I've said it before but I'll say it again, I am so in love with our city San Diego & I'm very thankful that I get to share these experiences with my best friend.
what's been on replay
If there's been one song that been overplayed this week (in a totally good, please don't stop kinda way) it's been No Fear by DeJ Loaf. Best song at the current moment. If you catch me at all during the week humming a tune, you can bet it's probably this one.
what's on the menu
I'm actually really proud of us this week! We tried a recipe that we've been wanting to make since we moved into our new apartment! I found this recipe on Pinterest of chicken parm zucchini, which of course we modified a bit since we had some unthawed hamburger meat & in replacement of the parm we used mozerella. We basically hollowed out the inside of the zucchini & made little boats if you will & put a mixture of our meet, onion, marinara sauce, cheese, and some seasonings. Bake at 375 degrees & you've got yourself some dinner! It's the little things! Also, one of our roommates commented on our make & thought it was a good idea too! ;)
Nathaniel made dinner the other night while I wasn't feeling good after a long day at work, he whipped up some chicken & pasta with some of the leftovers from our zucchini boats the night before. This may or may not have been said before, but he really is an amazing cook regardless of what he says!
